The summer before his senior year of high school, Scooby Wright was told he wasn’t good enough to play college football — at San Diego State. Look at “Two-Star Scooby” now. The Arizona Wildcats’ sophomore linebacker leads the team with 139 tackles, is first in the nation with 27 tackles-for-loss and six forced fumbles and ranks third in the country with 14 sacks. Wright was named the conference’s defensive player of the year on Tuesday, and is a finalist for the Chuck Bednarik Award, Bronko Nagurski Trophy and Lombardi Award.
