Air conditioning the desert
What is it? The CoolWell G2 is an air conditioner for your golf cart.
Who has them? Kierland Golf Club in Scottsdale and Whirlwind Golf Club at Wild Horse Pass in Phoenix both use carts with the CoolWell G2.
Cost: $400 each or $7.50 per month leased
The good: Cool air blows on the golfer's neck and shoulders and the company says the device can reduce the ambient air temperature by 40 degrees.
The bad: "It was OK, better than nothing. Ours gave out on (hole 16 or 17. (It) started blowing warm air," said Chris Porter who used the device on a 107-degree day in Scottsdale.
