The Lancers advance to 5-0 on the season.

Down two stars, Lancers prevail

No Mario Padilla, no Bijan Robinson, no problem. The Salpointe Catholic Lancers advanced to 5-0 on the season and handed Tucson High its first loss of the season 27-3 Friday night.

Padilla suffered a groin injury two weeks ago at home against El Paso Del Valle and missed the entire second half of that game and last week's win over Glendale Cactus. Robinson suffered a left ankle injury against Cactus and was a game-time decision tonight, but started at running back against Tucson High.

After the first drive, Robinson tweaked his ankle again and was held out for the rest of Friday night. But just like the cliche expression in football, it's next man up. And the next one in line is junior two-way player Dae han Chang. Chang exploded for 90 yards rushing on 18 carriers and three touchdowns.

The Star caught up with Chang, head coach Dennis Bene and Lathan Ransom following Salpointe Catholic's win, here's what they had to say along with some highlights from the game.
