Ed Mendoza
• Olympics: 1976, Montreal
• Local connection: Attended the UA
• Feat: Mendoza ran the 10,000-meter race at the 1976 Games, but didn't make it out of the qualifying heats. He finished just over 39 seconds behind the pace that advanced to the finals. Mendoza ended up with the 28th-fastest time; only the top 16 advanced.
• Current: Mendoza is a teacher and cross-country coach at Desert Ridge High School in Phoenix.
