High school football: 10 Tucson-area teams, paced by Canyon del Oro (10-0), reach state playoffsIncluding unbeaten Canyon del Oro, 10 high school football teams from Tucson and surrounding areas have earned AIA state tournament berths this year. Jason Wood started the season at quarterback for Marana High School, but over the last couple weeks, with Wood shifting to wide receiver and Colten Meyer at QB, the duo has thrived as the Tigers enter the Class 5A state playoffs this week.
It's Thursday this week when the lights kick on for high school football action. Nine teams from Tucson and surrounding areas are on the field for Arizona state playoff games this week, including Sabino (3A) and Tanque Verde in quarterfinal matchups.
