Arizona Symphonic Winds’ Veterans Day Concert has been a Tucson tradition for 34 years as the volunteer ensemble pays tribute to those who have fought and died for our freedoms.

On Veterans Day, longtime Winds Music Director László Veres, an Army veteran, will don his ubiquitous Sousa style uniform to lead the group in a free concert of flag-waving, heart-tugging anthems and marches.

Arizona Symphonic Winds will perform “A Musical Tribute to Our Veterans, Past and Present” at 2 p.m. at Catalina Foothills High School auditorium, 4300 E. Sunrise Dr. Admission is free and donations are accepted.

The Pima Animal Care Center will host a drive-thru microchip clinic for the pets of veterans on Veterans Day. The clinic runs from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. 

The clinic will be held in the overflow parking lot next to the shelter. The shelter itself will be closed for the holiday.

Donuts will also be available for pet owners.

And leading up the holiday, PACC, 4000 N. Silverbell Rd., is offering free adoptions for veterans between Nov. 8 and Nov. 10. PACC is open 12 to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding Veterans Day, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends.

The Southern Arizona VA Health Care System, in partnership with Deejays Against Hunger and local barbers, is offering free haircuts to veterans on Veterans Day. 

The event is open to all veterans who present a valid Veterans ID. The event also includes music and refreshments, while supplies last.

The event takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the VA's R.E. Lindsey Auditorium, 3601 S. 6th Ave.

And on Sunday, hikers who walk the Juan Bautista de Anza National Historic Trail between Tumacácori and Tubac State Historic Park can get a free shuttle ride back to their starting point. The park will provide a continuously-running free shuttle between the trailheads from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
