Paris 2024 Olympic Opening Ceremony: Everything You Need To Know
The 2024 Olympic Games will begin with an unprecedented opening ceremony along the River Seine in Paris. The ceremony, which is set to take place July 26 at 8:24 pm local time, will be the largest and most extravagant opening ceremony in Olympic history. It will feature dozens of boats carrying athletes and performers along a 6km route, passing several iconic landmarks such as Notre Dame and the Eiffel Tower. All of the boats will have cameras installed, so those watching at home can get a close-up look. Approximately 300,000 people are expected to line the streets of Paris to watch the ceremony, making it the largest crowd at any Olympic opening ceremony to date. The show will be in 12 parts, with organizers emphasizing that “everything will be woven together,” including the traditional speeches and the anthems. Over 100 heads of state and government officials will be in attendance, along with 10,500 athletes. 45,000 police will be deployed for the ceremony, and if a security threat arises, it could be moved to the Trocadero or Stade de France.
