• What is the lab? UA's Plastination Lab creates permanently preserved body parts that can be handled without gloves to help medical students learn anatomy. Because of the way they're processed, plastinates are non-toxic. They don't need special ventilation or wet lab space like cadavers. The lab creates a variety of plastinates, including organs, musculoskeletal and even animal.
• Where is it? Inside the UA's College of Medicine, 1501 N. Campbell Ave.
• Can I visit the lab? The lab isn't open to the general public. However, leaders hope it will someday be open to small groups, clinicians and visiting schools.
• Who funds it? The UA's College of Medicine.
• Where can I learn more? Go online to plastinate.arizona.edu to learn more about plastination and see real plastinates.
