The world according to Hodgman

From wine to world domination and the world's demise, Hodgman has opinions, many of which he included in his new book, "That Is All," the final installment of his "Complete World Knowledge" books.

"That stuff simply grew in my brain like a fungus and I am now dedicated to infecting everyone else," Hodgman said in a recent phone interview.

For the uninitiated, be warned: Hodgman's knowledge is based on few if any actual facts. But that has never stopped the 40-year-old Hodgman, a correspondent on Comedy Central's "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart," from passing it off as indisputable fact.

Hodgman, perhaps best known as the PC in the Apple commercials, comes here with his favorite indie rocker, John Roderick. During our recent interview, Hodgman gave us a small teaser of his complete world knowledge, from wine to committing the perfect crime.

Where wine grapes go when they die: "A lot of people don't know that white wine … does not come from white grapes, it comes from ghost grapes." What are ghost grapes? Grapes that have died and are now ghosts.

Leave behind no evidence: "Clubbing someone to death with a frozen leg of lamb is graceful and elegant and leaves no evidence whatsoever."

Earth's final day ... or is it?: "Twenty-twelve will be either the end of the world and human time as we know it or time to buy a new calendar."

Sipping Chardonnay from oak barrels: "It tastes like you are licking furniture made of headaches."

I paid for that song: "If I want to take a break from my show and fly in one of my very favorite singer/songwriters (John Roderick) to sing my favorite songs ... I can do that, and I can do it barefoot."
