Reminder: More than half of Tucson's 140,000 residential customers will have their garbage pickup days change on Monday.
Starting Monday, the city will scale back its residential garbage collection operation from six days a week to five. The new routes mean 74,000 customers will have to get used to rolling out their cans on a different day.
The change will eliminate Saturday service, and the reshuffling to move those customers to different days will bump thousands of other customers.
Pickup times will change for most residents, even if their day doesn't. As a result, the department is asking residents to have their trash on the curb by 6 a.m. on their scheduled pickup day.
A map of the new service days went out in the October water bill, and fliers were put on the front doors of houses that will have their service day change.
