PHOENIX — The state's jobless rate inched down a tenth of a point last month fueled by steady but unimpressive job growth across most of the economy.
New figures put the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate at 9.1 percent. That rate -- and the drop -- coincide with national figures.
Last year, Arizona's jobless rate was 9.8 percent.
That translates out to 15,500 more people working in October than in September, an increase of six-tenths of a percent. Employment is up by 44,700 from last October.
As has been the trend, the health care industry showed strong employment gained, adding 3,500 between September and October and more than 14,000 from the same time last year. This is the lone sector of the economy that has been generally immune from the recession.
But the report also shows employment up at bars and restaurants.
