Pima County One-Stop Career Center’s Summer Youth Programs are accepting applications from those ages 14-21 who want to work this summer or catch up on school credits.
The deadline to apply and set up an assessment test is March 13. Apply online at https://secure.pima.gov/summeryouth or pick up an application form at a local high school, community center or library. Applicants also can call 724-9639 for more information.
Last summer, more than 1,450 Pima County youths earned minimum wage while working for Pima County, Tucson, the University of Arizona and dozens of participating local businesses. The jobs they performed included administrative support, clerk, child care aide, recreation aide, library page and patient care technician.

Jobs with the Department of Transportation or Regional Wastewater Reclamation Department involve outside manual labor. Applicants for the positions will be placed in a special pool of applicants and may increase the chances of being selected for a summer job, program officials said in a news release Thursday.
The Summer Youth Programs also include basic education for credits in math, reading and writing.
Work hours range from 20 to 40 hours per week. Placements range from four to seven weeks.
Positions are limited. The county received more than 4,500 applications last year, Dana Katbah, program manager, said in the news release. Participants are selected based on their applications, assessment scores and work interests.
Participants attend a one-day “employability skills” workshop before they go to work.
