It's Black Friday, the much-hyped shopping day after . . . Black Thursday, when lots of chain stores were open this year even on the holiday.
Tucson business owners are encouraging shoppers to think of today as Buy Local Day and to spend their cash at locally owned businesses. There will be family-focused activities and music today at La Placita Village, 110 S. Church Ave.; Campbell Village, 3055 N. Campbell Ave.; Maynards Market, 400 N. Toole Ave.; and on North Fourth Avenue between East University Boulevard and the Union Pacific railroad tracks.
But for those seeking the thrill of the hunt in packed big-box and mall stores, here are when some chain stores with Black Friday specials open today:
Bed Bath & Beyond, 6 a.m.
