Convergys Corp. is hiring more than 300 full- and part-time workers at its Tucson call center, boosting its local work force by nearly half.
The new employees will provide technical support for a Convergys client in the TV and Internet entertainment industry, the company said.
About 650 people are employed at the company's call center at 3760 N. Commerce Drive, company spokeswoman Amy Williams said.
The new jobs offer a starting wage of $10 per hour, which is competitive within the industry, the company said.
The company's staffing levels can fluctuate, depending on active contracts, Williams said.
Convergys ranked 59th in the current Star 200 survey of Southern Arizona's largest employers. The company's work force has reached as high as nearly 1,500 workers in 2003 and has averaged about 725 full-time-equivalent employees since 2005, according to Star 200 archives.
