A three-story apartment complex for disabled residents is being constructed on 1.26 acres of Tucson’s south side, and it’s expected to open this fall, according to the Compass Affordable Housing website.
Alvord Court Apartments, 5901 S. Park Ave., will provide housing for people with physical and developmental disabilities. Meant for long-term living, all 24 units will be built to the standards of the Americans With Disabilities Act and include features for residents to age in place, the website says.
The site will include elevators, property management, barbecue and picnic areas, a computer room, community garden, physical therapy and fitness rooms, and outdoor areas in a courtyard-style design.
Funding for the project was awarded from the city of Tucson, the Arizona Department of Housing, Pima County and the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco.
