GEICO, repair firm giving away 3 vehicles
Three Tucsonans will be given refurbished, late-model vehicles in April that were donated by GEICO and refurbished by Caliber Collision employees who volunteer their personal time.
Nominations of deserving local recipients can be made online at www.CaliberCollision.com/RecycledRides and must be received by March 15.
Potential recipients must be at least 18, have a valid driver's license, and be able to insure and maintain the vehicle. Final selection will be made by an independent committee of community leaders.
"Reliable transportation is something many of us take for granted, but for those without it, everyday activities like going to work, school, shopping, simply taking care of their families, presents a challenge," Michael Quinn, Caliber Collision vice president, said in a news release. "Recycled Rides is one way in which Caliber Collision can give back to the local communities we serve."

Utility's parent sees quarterly profit double
PHOENIX - Thanks mostly to a rate increase that took effect in July, the parent company of Arizona Public Service Co. reports that its fourth-quarter profits nearly doubled.
Phoenix-based Pinnacle West Capital Corp. on Friday reported profits of $22.6 million, or 20 cents per share, compared with $12.6 million, or 11 cents per share, in the same quarter of 2011.
The increase that went into effect for 1.1 million APS customers last year did not raise bills immediately because falling natural-gas prices offset the increases in other parts of the bills.
The complex settlement helped the company improve its earnings without an immediate bill increase to customers.
