AT&T to unveil 4G LTE in Tucson by end of year
AT&T plans to introduce its latest-generation 4G LTE wireless network in the Tucson area by the end of the year, the company said Thursday.
LTE technology is capable of delivering mobile Internet speeds up to 10 times faster than so-called 3G, the company said.
The term 4G LTE stands for "fourth-generation long-term evolution." AT&T currently offers a less-advanced 4G network called HSPA+, which stands for high-speed packet access.
AT&T's biggest competitor, Verizon Wireless, rolled out its 4G LTE network in August 2011. Earlier, AT&T had said it planned to roll out 4G LTE in Tucson sometime in 2013.
