One of five local Chili's Bar and Grill restaurants has closed.
A spokeswoman for Dallas-based Brinker International Inc., which owns the Chili's chain, said the company closed the restaurant at 4911 N. Stone Ave., near East River Road and north of the Tucson Mall, on Nov. 29.
"We constantly review the performance of our restaurants and from time to time make the tough decision to close a restaurant based on several factors, including sales figures, lease agreements and other aspects," spokeswoman Maureen Locus said in an e-mail Thursday.
"Brinker doesn't comment on the employment status of our team members ... (but) did extend the opportunity to those who were displaced at the North Tucson location to apply at other Chili's locations in the surrounding area."

Brinker has plans to renovate more than 800 restaurants, according to a company news release. Brinker sold its On the Border Mexican Grill & Cantina brand earlier this year and sold a majority interest in its Romano's Macaroni Grill brand in 2008, both to San Francisco-based Golden Gate Capital.
