Universal Avionics names senior VP
Tucson-based Universal Avionics Systems Corp. has named Donald D. Berlin as its senior corporate vice president, and he has been appointed to the board of directors.
Berlin was previously the company's chief operating officer and has held senior management positions with the company since the introduction of the company's first product in 1982.
Bashas' announces 4 executive changes
Bashas' Supermarkets recently appointed four of its executives to key leadership positions:
Robert Ortiz, formerly vice president of sales and merchandising for Bashas' Food City stores, was named senior vice president of sales and merchandising for the main company. Ortiz has been with Bashas' for more than 25 years.

Christie Frazier-Coleman was named vice president of strategic initiatives. Frazier-Coleman, formerly senior vice president of sales and merchandising for Bashas', has more than two decades of experience in grocery retail and food distribution and has been with Bashas' for 23 years.
Cisco Echeverria was appointed vice president of sales and merchandising for Food City. Echeverria joined the company in 2001 and most recently was director of merchandising for Food City's non-perishable department.
Mike Solis was named director of merchandising for Food City's non-perishable departments. Solis has been with Bashas' for the past 15 years, most recently as a merchandising specialist with Food City.
Sears to head up architecture group
Local architect Matt Sears has been elected president of the Southern Arizona chapter of the American Institute of Architects.
Sears is a 1980 graduate of the University of Arizona College of Architecture and Landscape Architecture and a founding principal, along with Tom Gerbo, of Sears Gerbo Architecture.
Coady moves to CB Richard Ellis
Paul G. Coady has joined CB Richard Ellis Tucson LLC as director of asset services.
Coady, who has more than 25 years experience in commercial real estate management, development and leasing, most recently was director of property management at Tucson-based Bourn Partners LLC.
Rail group names president-CEO
The Arizona Railroad Group, a Benson-based railroad investment company and owner of the San Pedro & Southwestern Railroad, has promoted Scott L. Parkinson from vice president and general manager to president and chief executive officer.
Parkinson joined the company in August 2005 and is a certified locomotive engineer and a commander in the U.S. Navy Reserve.
