Arizona’s average gas price edged up this week while the nationwide average dropped, AAA says.
But more than 36 million motorists taking a holiday road trip this weekend will pay the lowest Independence Day gas prices in more than a decade.
This week, the statewide average rose more than 2 cents to $2.25 per gallon of regular gas on Thursday, AAA Arizona said.
Nationwide, prices tumbled more than 3 cents in a week to an average of $2.29 per gallon.
Tucson held the state’s lowest average gas price, virtually flat over the week at $2.06 per gallon, while Flagstaff had the state’s highest, at $2.43.
Overall, strong supply is keeping pace with record demand, though some storage and pipeline issues in California could cause prices on the West Coast and in Arizona to fluctuate in the near term, AAA said.
