It can sometimes be hard to tell if you're having issues with bedbugs, or other crawling critters. Check to make sure that you actually have bed bugs, not fleas, ticks or other insects. If you're unsure, call an exterminator in your area to check.
Bed bug are typically the size of an apple seed, are long and brown with a flat, oval-shaped body. You can check the seams of your mattress to see if you see any bugs crawling around, but you should also check for rusty or reddish stains on bed sheets or mattresses caused by bed bugs being crushed.
Bed bugs bites are usually small and red, but are easily confused with other bugs bites so usually aren't the best identification for bed bugs.
