Tim O'Rourke was almost a fly on the wall as affable bartender Tim on "The Drew Carey Show," but in almost every episode Carey made sure O'Rourke had at least one line. Every time an actor utters a line, even if it's just one word long, he or she gets a residual payment when that episode is aired in reruns.
Ah, the gift that keeps on giving.
O'Rourke now writes for Nickelodeon's "SpongeBob SquarePants" and "Fairly OddParents," lends his voice to Fox's "Family Guy," and has honed his stand-up skills in comedy clubs around the country.
He'll headline Laffs Comedy Caffe, 2900 E. Broadway, this weekend, with shows at 8 and 10:30 p.m. Friday and 7 and 9:30 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $10, $15 for preferred seating. 323-8669.
