Here's the really cool thing about Tucson's close-knit musical community: They hold hands.
Proof: On Saturday afternoon, the volunteer Civic Orchestra of Tucson is teaming up with the Tucson Symphony Orchestra to present its hugely popular instrument petting zoo.
A handful of instruments and the people who play them will set up in the courtyard of Leo Rich Theater, 260 S. Church Ave., from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 29. Kids can touch the instruments and Civic Orchestra players will explain how they work.
Admission is free and it's a bonus to the TSO's Family Series concert “Dusty Locks and the Three Bears” being performed twice on Saturday inside Leo Rich. "Dusty Locks" is Tucson author Susan Lowell's Southwest recasting of "Goldilocks," and TSO violist Ilona Vukovic-Gay, who leads the TSO's groundbreaking Young Composers Project, composed the music.
