When it comes to choosing the best burritos in Tucson, the competition is hot, hot, hot.
St. Mary’s Tortilla Factory emerged as one of the top seeds when we asked readers for their nominations last month. It faces Taco Bron, a reported favorite of pilots at the Tucson International Airport, in this first round of voting.
Recommendations ran the gamut — and included a couple of winners from previous Madness contests. Zivaz Mexican Bistro on East Broadway won Burger Madness in 2013. Olé Mexican Grill on the Northwest side emerged victorious in Salsa Madness 2014.
Many of the 32 nominees that made our Burrito Madness bracket are family owned and operated. Some have many locations, and a few are food trucks with devoted followings.
The first round of voting starts Thursday at tucson.com/mobilemadness and continues through Sunday. The ultimate winner will be revealed Sept. 10.
