Johnny Rockets blasted back into the Tucson market this summer with an express restaurant in the airy indoor food court at Tucson Premium Outlets in Marana.
On Saturday, Aug. 20, the restaurant will host a grand opening event to celebrate the national burger and shakes chain's return to Tucson after a six-year absence. Johnny Rockets was last in Tucson near the University of Arizona, on the corner of Euclid Avenue and University Boulevard before closing to make way for a CVS drug store.
Saturday's celebration at the mall, off Interstate 10 and Twin Peaks Road in Marana, is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will include free food samples, giveaways. 93.7 KRQ DJ Lauren Gonzalez will be on hand and will hand out radio station give-aways.

If you are among the first 25 people in line Saturday, Johnny Rockets will treat you to lunch.
Johnny Rockets will donate 20 percent of the day's proceeds to the Marana Food Bank, which serves the greater Marana area on the northwest side. The food bank, which has been around 60 years, provides more than a million pounds of found annually to those requiring emergency food assistance.
Johnny Rockets, founded in 1986, operates more than 350 franchise and corporate restaurants in 28 countries around the world.
The Premium Outlets location features a kitchen layout that allows employees to prepare the restaurant's signature hand-spun shakes and never-frozen burgers at a fast-food pace.
