Alan Schwartz is one of the readers who responded when we recently asked for the best drive-through breakfast in Tucson.
"A Nico's breakfast burrito is the best!" Schwartz wrote in what would be the majority opinion.
"My wife likes the breakfast burrito with potatoes, but I'm a purist — just ham, eggs, and cheese. It's satisfying. It's huge. And it's cheap," he said, before concluding: "It's one of the best things about living in Tucson."
The menu we picked up at the Nico's Taco Shop, 1855 E. Fort Lowell Road, shows six varieties of breakfast burritos (each $3.43) served 24/7, and 10 locations throughout the Tucson area.
Filiberto Carreon, who owns the Fort Lowell location and a couple of others, says the most popular breakfast burrito is the one with bacon, potato, cheese and eggs.

"They've got a lot of good stuff here," Moses Lopez said recently as he waited in his pickup truck at the drive-through at Fort Lowell. He'd ordered the burrito with chorizo and eggs. "This place is real popular — especially at night," the 25-year-old said.
While most of the drivers were on their way to work, Al Fiorello, 37, was just heading home as he placed his order for a burrito with ham and eggs with potatoes. Fiorello, an emergency-room physician, says he picks up a breakfast burrito every two or three weeks.
