Chicago is coming to Tucson - the band, not the musical.
The 1970s and '80s hit band will play before what is almost certain to be a sold-out crowd Tuesday at Casino del Sol's 5,000-seat AVA.
AVA Box Office officials last week reported that there still are some tickets for reserved and lawn seats.
The prospect of selling out its Tucson show - its first in a few years - is not surprising. In recent years the band, banking on a deep and memorable catalog of light-rock hits, has sold out here and nearly everywhere it has played.
Four of the seven original members of Chicago keep the band going strong: Robert Lamm on vocals and keyboard; Lee Loughnane on trumpet; James Pankow blasting trombone; and Walt Parazaider doubling on saxophone and woodwinds.
The melodic fusion of horns with drums, guitars and vocals has given this band a unique edge, capturing listeners for more than four decades with hits that include "Hard to Say I'm Sorry/Get Away," "Alive Again," "Loneliness Is Just a Word" and "Just You and Me" among them.
