St. Mark's to host
Indonesian concert
Fine Stream Gamelan will celebrate its 20th anniversary with a concert at St. Mark's Presbyterian Church, 3809 E. Third St., tonight.
Gamelan is considered the classical music of Indonesia. Instruments ranging from large hanging gongs to metal keyboards help round out the ensemble's sound and make the group one of the most unusual in Tucson.
Matt Finstrom, who also directs the classical Indian ensemble Sruti, has studied gamelan for decades and created Fine Stream Gamelan in 1989 to fill the void in Tucson.
The ensemble will perform a mix of traditional and original works using Javanese and Balinese gamelan instruments.
The show begins at 7:30 p.m., and tickets cost $10. Phone: 325-1001.

Flute Viola Harp Trio to perform in GV
The Tucson Symphony Orchestra Flute Viola Harp Trio is traveling to Green Valley Saturday for a concert at the Community Performing Arts Center, 1250 W. Continental Road.
It's the last chance this season to see one of the TSO's traveling chamber groups, but it's also an opportunity to sneak a peek at the center's spanking-new 198-seat theater, which opened in January. The center also includes a design studio and art gallery. Plans call for a 500-seat theater as well, although that project will have to wait until voters approve bonds to finance it.
The trio — flutist Paula Karrer, violist Ann Weaver and harpist Patricia Harris — will perform Mark Koval's "La Femme au chapeau"; Ottorino Respighi's "Trittico botticelliano" (Three Botticelli Pictures); Mark Lavry's Suite concertante; and Manuel Moreno-Buendía's Suite popular Española.
The concert begins at 2 p.m., and tickets are $10 through the center, online at www. performingartscenter.org or at the door. Details: 399-1750.
