Tommy Rat sat on a beach March 3 in Perth, Australia, while on tour with the band he manages, MxPx.
It was his 50th birthday.
"I drew a big 50 in the sand and sat on it and took a picture," he said.
This moment on the beach prompted some reflection about the next chapter of his musical career, said the Tucsonan, referring to his new band, Styx Mania.
The Styx tribute band will make its debut in a show benefiting the Community Food Bank Tuesday at the Rialto Theatre, 318 E. Congress St. Admission is two cans of food or a cash donation.
Whole Lotta Zep will go on at 8 p.m., followed by Styx Mania at around 9:15. The final band is 80's and Gentlemen.
Eighties progressive art rock band Styx still performs and is known for such hits as "Mr. Roboto," "The Best of Times" and "Lady."

Rat said Styx Mania has about 20 of the band's songs down pat.
"We might rearrange some stuff," said Rat of the band's upcoming 45-minute set. "We want to hit hard and fast and show off our wares."
All five members of Styx Mania have years of touring and session experience with other groups.
"We're not just some cover band with a guy with a high voice," Rat said. "It's like watching Styx. It's freaky."
In addition to Rat, who plays drums, Styx Mania members are keyboardist Burt Diaz , guitarist Bobby Nigro, guitarist Robert Beaver and bassist Rich Wirsing.
Touring is a possibility, but Rat will be with MxPx in Europe and Asia until June.
"I don't get excited easy," Rat said. "but now I have delusions of grandeur."
