Scott McCreery, 41, was shot in the ear by a sheriff’s deputy when he pointed his gun at law enforcement officers who responded to a 911 call made by the suspect’s wife. McCreery, of Casa Grande, had been drinking heavily for several days, according to sheriff’s officials. The shooting was precipitated by McCreery reportedly assaulting his wife. After being treated at the hospital for the gunshot wound, McCreery was booked into the Pinal County jail for aggravated assault, aggravated assault domestic violence involving a handgun and aggravated assault on a police officer.
