Pictured above is the lead cook at Li'l Abner's Steakhouse, 8501 N. Silverbell Road, in 2005.
The steakhouse got its start in 1947 as a "watering hole for local farmers and cowboys before it added food to the mix," the Arizona Daily Star said. It’s been owned by former Tucson attorney David Hoffman since 1981, when he bought it from a former client.
"Li'l Abner's is the first place we take visitors to Tucson," the Star wrote in 1986. "If the trolley interests knew what they were doing, they'd lay a track between this place and Tucson International."
