Sometimes the best teachers are those who learned the hard way.
Cynthia Townley Ewer is one of those.
Ewer, who is the editor of OrganizedHome.com online, admits to having faced up to her housekeeping shortcomings when a police officer who was investigating a break-in attempt at her home thought her disheveled rooms had been ransacked. The experience spurred her to teach herself how to run a clean, organized home, and now she's sharing that know-how in her new book, "House Works."
"House Works" offers how-to information in four areas: decluttering, organizing, cleaning and planning. It covers all the basics, such as methods for cleaning a bathroom or a kitchen, grocery-shopping tips and suggestions for handling household papers. The information is presented in manageable chunks, so it's easy to read about and tackle one task at a time.
