A man died Monday evening in a head-on collision on Tucson’s northwest side.
The wreck occurred around 8:15 p.m. near the intersection of Picture Rocks Road and Pelto Path, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release Monday.
A pickup truck traveling west on Picture Rocks Road collided head-on with an eastbound Honda four-door sedan when the driver of the Honda, Chakiel Da-Loun Hicks-James, 23, veered into the westbound lanes.
The 50-year-old driver of the pickup truck was taken to a hospital for minor injuries.Â
The sheriff’s department said Hicks-James was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene. Speed is being considered as a factor in the wreck as the investigation continues.
