The only way jurors will hear the testimony of five jail house snitches in the Dr. Bradley Schwartz case will be if the murder defendant gets on the stand and denies he tried to convince them to frame someone else for the murder of Dr. David Brian Stidham.
Last week, prosecutors Sylvia Lafferty and Richard Platt filed a motion asking Pima County Superior Court Judge Nanette Warner if they could re-open their case so they could put the men on the stand.
Originally, the men were expected to be called if defense attorney Brick Storts argued that convicted armed robber Dennis Duane Walsh could have been the one who stabbed Stidham to death — instead of the man prosecutors contend killed Stidham.
However, the prosecutors were forced to ask about re-opening their case when Storts announced he wasn’t going to tell the jurors about Walsh afterall.

This morning, Warner denied the prosecution’s motion to re-open, but said the men could still be called as rebuttal witnesses — but only if Schwartz denies their stories.
Whether Schwartz testifies is entirely up to him. Storts said he would be conferring with his client to discuss the pros and cons of taking the stand.
