Tucson police arrested a suspect in the sexual assault of a jogger Tuesday morning at the Santa Cruz River Park. The woman was raped about 6:30 a.m. while jogging along the river near West Speedway, police said.Â
During the initial investigation, physical evidence was collected and analyzed. That information led detectives to Caleb Diaz, 23, police said in a news release Friday night.
Detectives learned that Diaz had been booked into the Pima County Jail on Thursday due to an unrelated warrant.
Detectives from the Tucson Police Department’s Adult Sexual Assault Unit went to the jail and interviewed Diaz. "Based on information obtained during the investigation, and the physical evidence collected, detectives arrested Mr. Diaz for sexual assault and kidnapping," police said.
