A former Desert Diamond Casino employee pleaded guilty Friday to stealing more than $660,000 from his employer.
Adam Thomas Vega, 31, faces up to 30 months in prison for pleading guilty to one count of theft by an officer or employee of a gaming establishment on Indian lands and one count of attempted evasion of assessment and payment of federal individual income taxes.
Vega, who could also get probation, is scheduled to be sentenced June 19 by U.S. District Court Judge Cindy K. Jorgensen.
Vega, who worked for Desert Diamond from May 2001 to July 2007 as a slot floor person, created nearly 600 fake slot jackpot tickets totaling $664,422, according to court documents.
Each of the tickets was for less than $1,200 in order to avoid having to generate a tax withholding form or require the signature of a floor supervisor, court records show.
