A Pinal County bailiff arrested on suspicion of bribery has been fired from his job after a month-long investigation.
Royzell D. Williams, 45, accepted $3,500 for what was to be his influence in a civil court case, according to the Pinal County Sheriff's Dept.
It is unclear who gave Williams the money or how he was to influence the outcome.
The sheriff’s office was contacted in June by a judge who requested an investigation into criminal conduct by Williams, a news release said.
An undercover operation was launched and on Tuesday, Williams was arrested.
There is no indication any judge or other court employees were involved.
Williams was previously convicted of marijuana violations and sentenced to nine years in the Arizona Department of Corrections. He was released in 2003.
