PHOENIX - A 4-year-old Litchfield Park girl who died at the Grand Canyon last month had been scolded moments earlier for going too close to the edge.
The Arizona Republic Web site says a National Park Service report shows Natalie Yeargan and her family had been at the park for about 30 minutes when Natalie fell.
The report says the family was walking along a rim trail when Christina Yeargan spotted her daughter walking close to the rim.
The report says she called the child back and "in a stern manner" told her not to go near the edge.
One witness says that after she was scolded, the girl "ran" back to the edge.
