UPDATED at 9:40 a.m. with more detail from police
Two people were struck by a vehicle on Highway 367 while they were checking damage to their cars from a previous crash at about 5:30 a.m. today, police say.
Police said one of the injured was taken to Barnes-Jewish Hospital. The other person was taken to a hospital closer to the crash site in north St. Louis County.
Police didn't immediately release the names of the victims or the extent of their injuries.
The incident began with a two-car crash. When the people involved got out of their vehicles to check damage, a third car struck the two pedestrians and a fourth car, said St. Louis County Police Officer Randy Vaughn, a department spokesman.
The southbound lanes of Highway 367 at Redman Road were shut down after the incident and reopened about 3½ hours later. Highway 367 is also known as Lewis and Clark Boulevard.
