Four University Medical Center employees were fired today for being involved with taking an “inappropriate photo” of a patient with a cell phone camera.
The Tucson Police Department is investigating, and is not releasing any reports about the incident.
UMC officials announced on Wednesday that eight employees had been suspended for their role in taking a potentially inappropriate photo of a patient. The hospital learned of the photo on April 24.
The hospital’s policy prohibits photographs of patients without the written consent of a patient or family members, and it also forbids the use of personal cell phone cameras by staff inside the hospital.
Today officials would only say that one employee took the picture of the patient, and four employees were fired.
