The Tanque Verde Unified School District has scheduled a Friday night public meeting to address the arrest and subsequent resignation of former Superintendent Tom Rogers.
The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Friday in the multi-purpose room at the Emily Gray Junior High School/Tanque Verde High School campus, 4201 N. Melpomene Way.
Federal agents arrested Rogers late last week at the U.S.-Mexico border south of Yuma on suspicion that he planned to engage in sexual acts with a boy in Mexico.
The district will be starting an investigation of Rogers, Tanque Verde Governing Board President Steven Auslander said Wednesday morning, who also said he’d just been speaking on the telephone with the Department of Education’s Investigative Unit.
The Governing Board put Rogers on administrative leave Monday night and Rogers submitted his letter of resignation Tuesday.

Susan Centers has been appointed acting administrator until an interim superintendent is hired, Auslander wrote in a letter posted on the district’s Web site, www.tanqueverdeschools.org.
The district has begun the recruitment process and expects to have an interim superintendent in place by the time the school year begins, the letter says.
The district is mailing invitations to Friday’s meeting to every mailing address in the district’s boundaries and e-mailing it to everyone they have e-mail addresses for, Auslander said.
