GLENDALE, Ariz. — An Army reservist is in custody for allegedly going to a Glendale hotel to meet what he thought was a teenager for sex, authorities say.
Jeff Howard Buffington, 34, also is accused of child abuse for leaving a toddler alone at home, Glendale police say.
Police say Buffington was arrested Friday after he responded to an online ad.
Buffington allegedly agreed to 30 minutes of sex for $160 with the 16-year-old girl, who actually was an undercover detective posing as a prostitute.
He was greeted at the hotel by the undercover officer, who was posing as the girl's mother.
