More than 1,500 students attended a multi-agency event at Casino del Sol's AVA Thursday that focused on the importance of working smoke alarms at homes.
"Hear the Beep, Where you Sleep" is the 2015 National Fire Prevention Week safety message, said Tracy Koslowski, a Drexel Heights Fire District spokeswoman.
Other messages children heard at the event included pedestrian safety and issues relating to bullying.
Pre-school up to second grade students attended the event from schools in the Tucson Unified School District, Pascua Yaqui Tribe and the Tohono O'odham Nation.
Students also learned about emergency vehicles and firefighting equipment.
In addition to Drexel Heights, other fire and law enforcement agencies that participated were Pascua Pueblo Fire and Police, Tohono O'odham Nation Fire and Police and Tucson Fire.Â
