A man who was burned in a house fire on Tucson's southwest side Friday morning, and later died was identified as Robert Michael Rodriguez, authorities said.
Rodriguez, 41, was taken to Banner-University Medical Center Tucson by Drexel Heights Fire Department paramedics.
He later was pronounced dead at the hospital, said Deputy Ryan Inglett, a Pima County Sheriff's Department spokesman.
At about 7 a.m, Drexel Heights Fire District received a 911 call about a garage fire in the area of West Vande Loo Street and West Holladay Street. The caller told dispatchers that the resident of the home could be heard screaming from the garage, according to authorities.
Crews found smoke and flames coming from the garage when they arrived, but were able to get the man out of the garage and taken to the hospital.Â

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire, but the home suffered heat and smoke damage.
Sheriff's homicide and arson investigators were investigating the cause of the fire.
No further information was immediately available.
