An SUV fire that spread to a duplex sent a 20-year-old man to the hospital with burn injuries early Friday morning, authorities said.
A single Tucson Fire Department engine was dispatched to the area of North Palo Verde Road and East Pima Street for smoke and fire of an unknown nature, said Captain Andy Skaggs, a department spokesman.
After several more calls were made reporting large flames and car on fire, a full alarm was dispatched at about 7:45 a.m.
A 60-year-old man in the duplex's south unit and a 52-year-old woman and her 7-year old granddaughter in a neighboring unit were all able to escape unharmed, although they sustained damage to their homes, Skaggs said.
Ten units and 25 firefighters battled the blaze and all of the additional residents- including a dog- were able to rescue themselves. The Red Cross will be providing assistance to the three displaced residents.

Investigators determined that the fire began in the SUV and was accidental, Skaggs said.
