Contractors working for Pima County will begin working on Orange Grove Road between Camino de la Tierra to La Cholla Blvd., part of a 12- to 14- month project to widen the popular east-west corridor.
Drivers can expect lane and speed reductions for the next few months as crews work to expand the 1.2 mile stretch of road to three lanes, one in each direction as well as dedicated center turn lane.

Starting Monday, June 24, 2013, Pima County and their contractor Southern Arizona Paving, will begin construction on Orange Grove Road from Camino de la Tierra to La Cholla Blvd. The construction duration for project is expected to be 12 to 14 months.
Orange Grove Road from Camino De La Tierra to La Cholla Boulevard (approximately 1.2 miles) will be widened to three lanes, one lane in each direction with a dedicated center turn lane. Other project features include pedestrian and bicycle facilities, drainage improvements, rubberized asphalt pavement, and public art. Improvements to the traffic signal at Shannon Road will also be included.

Traffic will be reduced to 25 MPH through the construction zone. Lane reductions will occur just west of San Joaquin at the Pegler Wash to install a barrier wall at the box culvert. Flaggers will be present to direct traffic though this area.
Motorists driving through the work zone can expect delays during this project and are encouraged to seek alternate routes. Message boards will be in place to direct traffic.
Please approach the area with caution and obey all traffic control devices.
