The driver of a vehicle ran a red light early Thursday on the Tucson area's south side and fatally struck a motorcyclist, the Pima County Sheriff's Department says.
Motorcyclist George Edward Doyle V., 61, was fatally injured in the crash at about 5:30 a.m. near the intersection of East Drexel and South Palo Verde roads, the department said in a news release. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the vehicle, Carlos Sandoval, 23, was criminally cited for causing physical injury and/or death by a moving violation after failing to stop at the red light, the Sheriff's Department said. Speed is also believed to have been a factor, the news release said.Â
