A Tucson police motorcycle officer was involved in a single-vehicle crash Tuesday morning.
The crash occurred in the 1300 block of West Ajo Way, just west of Interstate 19, said Sgt. Matt Ronstadt, a Tucson police spokesman.
Officer Richard Kates, a 15-year veteran with TPD, was traveling eastbound on Ajo Way when he lost control and went down while trying to slow down as traffic in front of him stopped, Ronstadt said.
Kates, who has 10 years experience riding a motorcycle, has minor injuries and was taken to a hospital, Ronstadt said.
There was no indication that speed was a factor in the crash, he said.
Traffic detectives are still investigating and no citations have been issued.
