Tucson climbing gym Rocks and Ropes donated some of their retired climbing gear to the Humane Society of Southern Arizona's summer camp. The Humane Society campers learned how to turn the material into secure leashes for dogs. Some made the leashes for their own pups, while others donated leashes to the Humane Society for families looking to adopt dogs.
Rock and Ropes, headquartered at 330 S. Toole Ave, holds seven week-long sessions of SummerCAMPS for children ages 5-15. Camps run June through August.
The summer camps at Humane Society of Southern Arizona, 3450 N. Kelvin Blvd., are full up for the year.
