The Arizona Daily Star has won first place in the Suburban Newspapers of America's 2010 Newspaper of the Year contest.
The Star won for daily newspapers with circulation over 30,000. This is the second time in three years the paper has won the award.
Judges praised the Star's "excellent array of topics that touch all aspects of the community." Visually, they singled out the paper for "elegant, classic typography, good headlines, and mixing of type and design."
SNA's membership comprises more than 2,000 newspapers in the U.S. and Canada.
